Roberto Pragliola elected as an EFFA Honorary Life Member

Roberto Pragliola, was born in 1937 in Florence(IT). He spent his youth in Fiumalbo (MO) and in the late 40’s he moved back to his hometown. Roberto, father of a grown up daughter, made a dozen jobs, was a decorator and engraver at Ponte Vecchio. He also worked at the hotel, as well as in a factory of motorscooters. In the field of fly fishing he gave his name to the RP and was a consultant for Franchi Pezon and Michel. He founded Mosca & Spinning, a very important fishing magazine and SIM (scuola italiana mosca).

During the filming of a documentary about the different approaches between fly fishing and bait fishing, called “License to murder” shot with Mario Bossone RAI in Castel di Sangro, he thought of founding a school of fly fishing. Just at that time he met the lawyer Dr. Osvaldo Galizia, and at this meeting the idea of creating a school of fly casting was born.

In 1971 Roberto wrote his first article of fly fishing in “Pescare” (ed.Olimpia). In 1981 the first part about TLT appeared in the foreign pres , in the French newspaper “Pecheur Sportif”. T.L.T.(Technico di Lancio Totale) the Italian Style of fly casting which Roberto founded made him well known all around Europe and many Italian fly fishing schools still follow his approach. Roberto’s latest work was the fly fishing book “Magia Sull’ Acqua” published in 2008 by Ulrico Hoepli, Milan. You will find more about Roberto and TLT on www.tltacademy.it
